About me
My name is Matija. I was born in the former Yugoslavia and have been living in the Netherlands since the 1990s.
In 2005 I became a sworn interpreter and for more than twenty years I have had the opportunity to work for a wide range of clients – from the United Nations and the Ministry of Justice to public prosecutors, lawyers, medical specialists, and notaries throughout the Netherlands.
Since 2020 I have been giving online language lessons in Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian, individually or in small groups. Since 2022 I have also started teaching Dutch online. I always adapt the lessons to your needs and learning pace. I try to create a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere from the very first class, because I believe that the best learning happens through trust, positive energy, and a healthy dose of humor.
In addition to grammar exercises and conversation, I like to add interesting details about different aspects of culture and everyday life in these Balkan countries and in the Netherlands. At the students’ request, we can also touch on “street language” – swear words and expressions you won’t find in traditional textbooks.
Language lessons – Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and Dutch
The lessons are given online via Microsoft Teams, or possibly another platform chosen by the student.
Depending on the level, I use suitable textbooks as well as their online exercises and many other useful materials. For B/C/S language lessons I also use customized materials appropriate to the student’s level.
The duration of each lesson is 90 minutes for adults, while for children under 12, the duration and price are determined by agreement.
